Final Reflection

What did you get out of this class? Will you use tech in your classes? How will you use tech in your classes? How has this class changed the way you think about teaching? About technology?
I was able to get many things out of this class, but what I feel to be the most beneficial to me is learning how to make a website and learning how to use imovie. Of course i will be using technology in my classroom because it is another way that students are able to connect to what i am going to teach them and it makes things easier. I will use technology my classroom by making imovies, using google calendar, making websites where the students can know of assigments and and gain other information, and I will use technology to enhance my lessons.

My idea of technolgy has not changed much from this class, but I have become more excited about using it to enhance my classroom lessons. I feel that knowing now how to do many different things with technology I am better able to enjoy teaching more. Technology is good and beneficial especially when it is used properly.

I learned how to use a projector....is not that hard to use, but I know that it will be beneficial in the classroom when I want to display things ....i really like how you are able to display anything using the projector....It makes things easier for the teacher to show things and make them easily visible for the students....i know that i will be using the projector for sure in my future class room:)

Web 2.0 Tools

Wiki was a fascinating tool from Web 2.0 that I thought would be very helpful and beneficial in helping me with my students that I will have in the future. I really like how wiki allows teachers to assign students assignments through the program. I think that this program is kind of like blackboard, where teachers are able to allow students to have class chats and discussions, and keep track of their assignments. I would really like incorporate this program into my future class and I hope to have success.

Studiocode

I am very glad that I was able to do studiocode and analyze my teaching video because this has helped me to visually see what I need to work on to become a better instructor and teacher. I have learned that I have strong areas, but I also have weak areas that I can work on. There is always room for improvement.

I found out that I can work better on my cues, transitions, and signals. I need to continue to enforce my cues throughout the lesson ans make them simple for the students to understand. My transitions need to flow more smoothly and I can fix that by having things organized and the students in formations to help these things go smoothly. I also need to be consistent with using my signals throughout the lesson, like using my whistle instead of just talking. I know that I can make these improvments and I hope to become a better teacher :)

Become a better teacher :)

How could filming myself teach and reviewing the film help me become a better teacher?
Doing so, can help me to better critic myself in areas that I feel need improvement. Not only can I evaluate myself better, but I can also have other people evaluate me. I am a visual learner and in order for me to get things I have to see it visually done. So, if I am able to see myself, I can pick out strong things that I have done and I can also pick out things that I need to work on. I know that it is possible to be a great teacher and I know that I can be one :).

Olympic Clean: total body exercise
Starting Position:
• Place feet slightly wider than shoulder width apart
• Bend knees and grasp the bar with an overhand grip(hands should be shoulder width apart)
• Shins should touch the bar
• Hips should be slightly higher than the knees
• Head should be up and full extended
Action:
• Straighten legs while pulling the bar straight up
• Arms should continue to be extended
• Bar remains close to the body
• Hips should push forward and legs extend
• Body will become erect
• (once bar passes the knees you explode)
o Elbows will bend as bar is pulled high
• Once bar is reached to the maximum height---drop whole body under the bar
• Hips and knees come into a squat position
• Catch the weight by moving elbows under the bar
• Support bar across the chest at the base of the neck
• Stand up with the weight by extending hips and knees

I really enjoyed being able to make an imovie....at first a was a little nervous because I did not no how to even start using imovie, but once i thought of what i wanted to do, it all when well....i have never worked with a mac before and so that was new and using imovie was very confusing....if i did not have the help of my professor i would not have been able to get my assignment complete.... i am so excited to be finished with it and i hope those that watch my film enjoy it because i think it went very well :)

I really enjoyed being able to learn about imovie. I can't wait to start on my assignment. I still do not have i great grasp on how to use everything on imovie, but i am willing to try it and learn how to do it. I think that imovie will be very effective in helping me in my future profession.

My website

I really enjoyed being able to make a website. I had no idea how to even start, but once I got started, i was able to learn and teach myself how to do certain things. I know that the skills that I learned from making this website will be beneficial to me in the future with my future profession. This was one of my favorite assignments, even though it did take a long time.

Internet Safety

Internet safety is very important especially in protecting the youth of today. There are so many things out there that can tempt or hurt youth if the youth are not careful from staying away from them. Certainly there must be a balance between how to use the internet in situations like privacy, safety, security, self representation, real vs. cyberspace, and cyberbullying. A balance between each of these categories will allow people to use their agency on what to do with the internet.
As an educator I should teach students to be safe with the internet in not only class activities, homework, but also in their personal social networks and internet use. While they are young is the best time to teach them because this will allow them to gain a firm foundation of what to do.
Privacy is very important with using the internet because once information about yourself or someone else gets out everyone will know and the internet has all kinds of people who use it and will see it. It is very important to be scarce with the information that you provide on the internet.
The most important thing to do is to be very smart in giving info about yourself and others because the internet is something that anyone can find information on. The ensign provides some very important points of what to do with the internet and some of the points that I find to be important are: avoid specifics, selectively post pictures, be positive, think before you post, and respect others work.
The internet lesson that I gave went very well. I was not only able to instruct the person I was giving the lesson too, but I was also able to remind and teach myself about the important points of internet safety. I think the highlight of my talk was that the person that I was teaching was able to follow the spirit while using the internet because while I was given information and instruction of internet safety I also added in counsel form the leaders of the church.

Internet Communication project

I ran into a few challenges with not knowing how to insert certain things, but overall it was okay. i did not know that in order to see the calendar or google map you have to save it and thenit will show up.......it took me a long time to figure this out because i thought i did something wrong when it did not show up right away. I enjoyed doing this project, but it took me a long time to do it than i expected.....i am so glad i am done now :)

Copyright

I think that copyright laws are essential in making sure things are done legally, but there is not a very good system for keeping them inforced. I believe that copyright laws are helpful in that they help people to do things legally. I think changes that could be made are to get rid of a couple laws that are the main ones that people do not keep...like sharing music or the videos in school.

Technology Resources

There are so many different resources that are provided by the internet that can help me in my life with school and my future profession. Out of all the resources we talked about in class I think that I would like to use Zortero.org because I have done several research papers and they have taken forever to complete :) but they were completed on time. I believe that Zotero.org would help me to make researching a lot more efficient and organized for me as a student and also as a teacher. PLE Reflection #1

My reflection on technology.....well I think that I am pretty average at knowing how to use technology. Technology is not one of my favorite things to do, but I can handle it. I have taken different classes in elementary school and high school on technology and I think that they have taught me the basic skills of knowing how to use it. After taking IPT 286, i hope to have a greater appraciation for technology and I also hope that I can increase my skills. I also hope that I will learn how to use technology in my future profession.
