Olympic Clean: total body exercise
Starting Position:
• Place feet slightly wider than shoulder width apart
• Bend knees and grasp the bar with an overhand grip(hands should be shoulder width apart)
• Shins should touch the bar
• Hips should be slightly higher than the knees
• Head should be up and full extended
Action:
• Straighten legs while pulling the bar straight up
• Arms should continue to be extended
• Bar remains close to the body
• Hips should push forward and legs extend
• Body will become erect
• (once bar passes the knees you explode)
o Elbows will bend as bar is pulled high
• Once bar is reached to the maximum height---drop whole body under the bar
• Hips and knees come into a squat position
• Catch the weight by moving elbows under the bar
• Support bar across the chest at the base of the neck
• Stand up with the weight by extending hips and knees
